Our tropical juicy fruits are grown in the heart of rural Ecuador near some poor and isolated villages called ‘Ilusiones’.

There is very little employment or industry in this area so the fruit farms are central to the community’s economic development.

Typically men work the farms so making our juicy fruit has created a new and unique source of employment for women of the area. The fruit is freshly picked and brought into the factory for cleaning and slicing then drying by these lovely ladies…

In total seventy people are now employed, 90 per cent of which are women, 50 per cent of which are single parents raising their children alone. Fabiana is just one of these great ladies who make your fruit; if you’re interested read her story below.

The more you enjoy our fruits the more employment we will be able to create locally. We’ll also play a role in planting more trees and helping create a nursery for the children of the workers as a safe and fun place to spend time between 8-5pm so their mothers are able to work and improve their families well being and education. If you’d like to help us you can get one of our favourite things poster or t-shirts. We’re putting all profits towards this project.

Fabiana's Story

Fabiana Marcelina Iniga is 52 and a single parent with 3 children. She lives in an isolated and poor village 47 km from Guayaquil in rural Ecuador.

She started work at the age of 15 years as a maid in order to help her parents and family survive and afford the basic costs of living like food.

She has pursued education despite facing the difficult prospect of raising children on her own and holding down hard jobs with unfair wages. In 2005 she started making our fruits and the substantial improvement in wages and good working environment meant that she can now afford the elementary school tuition fees for her children.

She says she hopes people enjoy the fruit she makes because it would help ensure the future of her community and co-workers.
